St. Philip’s is a welcoming community. On November 19, St. Philip’s Vestry voted to become affiliated with Integrity USA, an independent, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, and Allies (LGBTQ+A) organization of The Episcopal Church. Most St. Philippians know that we have been a welcoming church for decades, with numerous LGBTQ parishioners, staff, and clergy serving in all areas of our parish ministries. The practical effect of this vote is to proclaim this long-standing fact. By taking this step, St. Philip’s is joining over 750 other Episcopal churches in the USA who have declared themselves to be welcoming churches and affiliated themselves with Integrity USA.
Welcoming Statement: St. Philip’s In The Hills is a welcoming and inclusive Christian community striving through worship, love, and service to welcome all people just as God created them. No matter where you are on your journey of faith, and whether you are single, married, divorced, separated, or partnered, our welcome knows no boundaries of age, race, ethnicity, culture, gender identity, sexual orientation, economic condition, physical or mental ability. We honor the diversity of God’s Creation in all people.
On Saturday, January 10, 2015, St. Philip’s LGBTQ+A Ministry hosted a brunch for all parishioners at the home of Eric and Cameron Rau to celebrate this milestone in the history of St. Philip’s In The Hills. About 40 people gathered to enjoy a festive buffet and fellowship on a beautiful winter morning.
St. Philip’s LGBTQ+A ministry offers fellowship and participation in many welcoming activities and events throughout the year. Contact Bob Kamilli or Cameron Rau to learn more.
Sorry we missed this get together. We were still trying to get our feet back on the ground…Love that we have proclaimed this out loud 😉
